Good Day All! It's almost 2:00 p.m., and Cindy has had a good day. Our dear Mint Hill friend, Debbie graciously volunteered to spend the night with Cindy last night, and that gave me an opportunity to visit with her husband, Dave who grilled some delicious pork tenderloin on the grill and prepared the accoutrements. It was good to be able to stretch out on a couch and bed to sleep, and spend some time with Dave. Cindy said Debbie was an excellent guardian and comforter. We are very grateful to both of them for all they have done for us.
Cindy is now on oral pain meds, and off the PCA pump, and is not getting any fluids by IV. She sat on the side of the bed to eat lunch today, but has not yet had physical therapy. She is "reading the paper" and taking a nap right now. We will not see our primary surgeon until tomorrow, so we don't yet know how the plan will play out for the balance of the week. Cindy's ability to move appears to continue to increase, and she has been enjoying the pajamas and bed jacket that her sister-in-law Kim brought her yesterday. We just learned that PT is on their way up, so Cindy is going to have an opportunity to test her agility.
We continue to be uplifted by your thoughts, PRAYERS, emails, and calls. My good friend, Willie emailed me the following. It has been a blessing to both Cindy and I, and I thought that all of blog readers might receive a blessing from it to.
"At first I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there sort of like a president. I recognized his picture when I saw it, but I really didn't know Him. But later on, when I met God, it seemed as though life were rather like a bike ride, but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that God was at the back, helping me pedal.
I don't know when it was that he suggested that we change places, but life has not been the same since. When I had control I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points. But when he took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck speeds. It was all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!" I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are you taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer! and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure. And when I'd say "I'm scared," He'd lean back and touch my hand.
He took me to people with gifts that I needed; gifts of healing, acceptance and joy. They gave me gifts to take on my journey. And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light.
I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life. I thought He'd wreck it; but he knows bike secrets, knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners, knows how to jump to clear high rocks, knows how to fly to shorten scary passages. And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face with God as my delightful constant companion.
And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says . . . "Pedal!"

Perhaps when you are up and about
we can go where Dan led me to Monday evening. Food and service
were enjoyable. I am glad you are in good hands doctor wise. Out of 17 doctors in their clinic they should be able to pool their wisdom
and always give their patients the
best of care. We are all grateful
for their care and I hope you will
tell them "thanks" from all of your
friends. You and Dan are so fortunate to have each other. Hope that you can meet the two doctors
who were so kind to us. Dan
Love the message that was shared by Willie! Thanks for sharing with us also. We made it back to Alpharetta safely last night and Currie did not starve before we got here!! We sure did enjoy our time with you and so glad to hear you have made more progress today. So you were actually able to get into your new PJs? Yes!! Hopefully you have found them to be a little softer (on both the skin and eyes!) than the hospital gown. We love you and are praying for continued success in healing.
Mac and Kim
Hey you two. Mama was telling me about your Blogging page - so , you know I had to take a look and check on my favorite teacher! It sounds like you are making progress and being the stong Woman you have always been. I am so proud of you and admire you for so many reasons. Your strength and faith is amazing and that husband of yours is just right by your side cheering you on every step of the way. What an inspiration you both are!
I will surely be following Mr. Dan's Blog entries every chance I get - in order to keep up with your recovery! What a great idea.
I want you both to know.....as I am sure you already do (but, still like to hear).....You have so many people who love you dearly and are praying for you constantly! Keep your heads up and your hearts open- just as you always do. Lately- the 2 of you have consumed my every thought---and please know that because of that..my heart is full of faith an hope.
I love you both dearly and wish you all of the strengh, faith, hope and love in all of the world.
